Rio Grande South Project in Catamarca.

Marhen Lithium S.A. received approval for non-invasive exploration at the Rio Grande South Project in Catamarca. The exploration, completed by December 2023, used advanced non-invasive methods to assess underground lithium reserves with minimal environmental impact.

The project involved local contractors, boosting community engagement and local expertise. By December, an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) was completed, paving the way for drilling operations to begin in April 2024. This Rio Grande South Project highlights Marhen Lithium’s commitment to sustainable mining and strengthens Argentina’s position in the global lithium market.

    Production phases

    • The production of Lithium Carbonate will be carried out in a staggered manner until the final production of 10,000 tons / year.
    • The Pilot Plant of 1000 ton/year will allow us to test abilities to produce LCE with minimal impact to the environment.

    Project objectives

    • Implement the construction of a Lithium Carbonate Industrial Plant with a production capacity of 10,000 ton/year.
    • Start-up of the first stage of production by 2027, with a staggered increase to reach 10,000 tons / year for the 2028 management.
    • Applying the best practices of energy efficiency, resource-saving technology and renewable energy sources that allow us to obtain an environmentally friendly product.
